Hi, I'm Lydia Dickson!
I'm an artist, wife, new homeowner, geek, gardener, travel enthusiast, fashionista, and rabbit owner. My hair is brightly dyed, my clothes come in seasonal capsule wardrobes, and my husband would cringe at the pricetag if I weren't such a good bargain hunter. I'm moving towards making ethical purchases part of my lifestyle as I learn to buy what I need more than what's trendy. The more I write here the more I realize how powerful my words can be, which makes me want to be a positive influence on readers by bringing them insightful reviews, historical and educational information, as well as bring social issues to light where applicable.
We live in Durham, NC, where I create collages and watercolor paintings, and am working on setting up my own home darkroom. We're turning a cookie cutter house into home sweet home, complete with fruit trees and bushes on 1/10 of an acre. My raised vegetable beds are full of organic kale, spinach, tomatoes, and peppers and we have bird feeders full of visiting feathered friends.
I play video games, Magic the Gathering, and read novels and comic books often, plus cook dinner and play at the tabletop role play nights we host. My favorite types of books are fantasy, science fiction, historical, and young adult, but I read a wide variety. I love planning trips, especially to national parks, while I dream of jaunting off to Europe or Japan.
And the whole time our bunny, Scarlet just wants me to slow down and pet her. We've been trying to grow our family, but have been faced with infertility along the way. For now we have Scarlet, a brother for a housemate, and lots of board games, gardening, blogging, reading and other fun that we're enjoying while we can.
Feel free to contact me about commission art or blog collaborations. I love getting to know new people! I'm open to sponsored posts as well, so if you think your brand might be a good fit send me a line. I'm committed to integrity and will always acknowledge when I'm working alongside a brand. Otherwise if I mention brands in my posts it's because I love and stand by their products or want to give my reviews to you, the reader.
Thanks for stopping by!
